Capital Land Celebrate Youth Achievements in 2019

St Francis Bay – 2019 was another great year for the children of Sea Vista Primary and St Francis College, with many sporting and academic successes throughout the year for the local children.
To help celebrate outstanding achievements from the local pupils, Capital Land and the Village Square Shopping Centre set up their Academic Prize Program a number of years ago. This goal of this program is to reward the learners with prizes for their hard work, as well as to incentivize and motivate others to do well with the following message in mind.

The Academic Prize Program was initiated with Sea Vista Primary in 2015, and has been ongoing annually. Every year all the learners present at the prize giving wait with bated breath to see who is going to be recognized for his or her successes.

The Village Square Academic Prize is the name of the annual award that is awarded to, in the case of Sea Vista Primary, the scholar with the top academic marks in the Junior Phase, Intermediate Phase and Senior Phase. The prize per child consists of a merit certificate and a gift voucher from local stationary store The Stationery Butler.

The Senior Phase Prize Winners names are also engraved on the floating merit board.

This year’s Phase Winners are:

  • Rodriques Saaiman :: Foundation Phase
  • Cathleen Coenraad :: Intermediate Phase (86%)
  • Bervin Titus :: Senior Phase (89%)

Capital Land’s Facilities Manager in St Francis, Marius Botha; and Village Square Administrator Robyn Stewart attended the prize giving and handed out the awards. This year’s theme is: “Education is the thing that will enable you to make a difference in your own life and the community around you”. Marius Botha used the example of Siya Kolisi who through his chance of a good education and talent realised that he could achieve more. Without the opportunity of education he may not have had the foresight to believe. Hard work got him to where he wanted to be and he has achieved beyond his wildest dreams!

Capital Land also has an annual award for St Francis College which is still to be held in December 2019. Winners names will be announced in due course. The award is known as the Village Square Merit Award, and it goes to the Highest Academic Result in Grade 6.

Capital Land and the Village Square Shopping Centre are proud to be involved in these awards and are always thrilled to reward hard work and effort from the local learners.
